Co-located with the annual Midwest Big Data Hub All-Hands meeting in Omaha in 2017, 15 experts from several disciplines gathered on October 3rd to discuss community-oriented research topics, data and methods, and community engagement. They shared ideas and suggestions to launch a program focused on Smart & Resilient Communities.
This effort aims to facilitate increased connections among academic researchers, local governments, community members, and other stakeholders to address shared interest in municipal services and quality of life in areas such as: public health, energy, transportation, community planning, and management of unplanned events.
The Midwest Big Data Hub will hold a larger workshop later in 2018 to continue to build a network of researchers, local government leaders, and community organizations for new collaborations around data-enabled resilient communities in the Midwest. More information will be available soon. Please contact the Hub if you are interested in participating: info@midwestbigdatahub.org
